This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Credit Risk Analyst, or Credit Risk Manager with a technical background, to shape all aspects of credit strategy.

The Credit Risk Manager will report directly to the Head of Credit, and will be responsible for building credit risk strategies for a maturing credit card portfolio. Developing an infrastructure of data, reporting & analytics, to underpin credit optimization & support product growth.

Novum Bank Limited is a private credit institution that operates under, and applies, the European Union banking regulatory framework. The bank is licensed and regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) to operate outside Malta. Our office in Malta is our head office and has 300 days of sun during the year. Here you can find over 150 employees with (approximately 21) different nationalities. It is home to our board and our growing team of Finance, Debt Collections, Operations, HR, Sales, IT and Payments specialists.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Take ownership of credit risk strategies at both customer acquisition and customer management stages. Including cut-off setting, initial-line-assignment, affordability, authorisation & line management (increase/ decrease) programs. 
  • Accountable for leading ad hoc and regular analytics on key risk indicators; tracking variance to plan and informing above noted strategy setting. 
  • Develop an improved management information suite, covering risk appetite. With a dynamic capability to review live tests and interrogate trends. 
  • Manage the credit risk messaging across the bank; opportunity to discuss on-going performance and propose value add strategies to bank committee(s). 
  • Work closely with various bank teams, including Finance, Operations and Decision Science areas. 
  • Generate enhanced documentation outlining credit risk processes, including consideration of (changing) regulatory standard. 
  • Input into Collections & Recoveries, and Fraud strategies.
  • Facilitate growth plans by delivering effective & timely credit solutions, with consideration of continuous improvement and customer experience. 

Skills and experience:

  •  5+ years’ experience within credit risk;
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative/ numerical discipline; 
  • Problem solving and analytical (including SAS/ SQL/ Python or similar experience);
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills;
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work;
  • Pro-active outlook and desire to innovate;
  • Experience with credit cards or other retail lending products.
