Overview:
The Payments Processing Officer will report to the Operations Manager and will be part of a team which is responsible for the bank’s day to day payments processing operations. In addition, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience with Core Banking Products, including Corporate Banking and Retail Deposits, offering a strong foundation for Career Development. The position also offers the chance to collaborate closely with various departments across the bank, including Finance, Compliance, and Technology, providing a comprehensive understanding of banking operations.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and process daily outgoing and incoming payments, including manual, single, batch, and urgent payments through SEPA, SWIFT, and Third-Party Payment Providers.
- Ensure all Payments comply with internal and external rules, cut-off times, and product requirements.
- Liaise daily with front-office operators in the Cards, Lending, Corporate, and Retail Deposits teams on Payment-Related matters.
- Communicate with correspondent banks and third-party payment providers on day-to-day issues.
- Provide daily reporting to support reconciliation processes.
- Assist in assessing invoices and settlements from correspondent banks and third-party payment providers.
- Ensure adherence to the bank’s payments-related policies.
Other responsibilities may include:
- Support Prepaid Cards, Credit Cards, Retail Deposits and Corporate Back-Office Operations as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the team’s operational procedure.
- Contribute ideas for the improvement of Operational Systems, Processes, and Procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Skills: & Experience:
- Ordinary / Advanced level qualifications or equivalent.
- Experience within similar operational role within a financial services institution.
- Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English.
- Good communication and organisation skills.
- Ability to manage time and prioritise work.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools especially MS Excel.
- The following are considered an asset.
- Good working knowledge of the Spanish language.
- Experience with correspondent banks, SEPA, SWIFT and Payment Service Providers.
- Experience in Cards Issuing and Acquiring.
- Experience in a Bank’s Treasury Department.
- General Accounting Experience.
